Hello — thank you for taking the time to engage in this. I absolutely agree with you, that the term is rude and vulgar, and there is no need for it. I feel similarly about other words that are vulgar : bitch, whore, slut, cunt, pussy and I can’t help but notice how many words that are deemed most vulgar or strongest of insults have something to do with being a female and degrading a female. Of course there are other words that are vulgar which may not have to do with females, however, in the context of patriarchy and our roles within it, vulgarity and the expression of it often has to do with violating women. Many people analyze linguistics and how our society influences language and vice versa — how language influences societal norms.
